A Colored Girl Crochet Artist

                I started my journey through a “Whisper” from God. To tell you a little about myself, I was an EMT for 8 years, a Medical Assistant for 5 years and then a Nurse for 10 years. So, my lifelong career has been taking care of people and making them smile. So, when I became disabled, it felt like my world was taken from under me. After crying and asking God what I am to do next, He spoke to me and told me to crochet. I thought and said, “crochet”? I have not done that since I was young. God whispered again, “crochet.” I was like, “what am I going to crochet?” He then led me to a young lady on Instagram who was teaching people how to make the most magnificent dolls I have ever seen, and I said, “God, I want to do that!” At that moment she became my mentor, and she still is to this day.

                So, there I am in a circle of beautiful Black Women, making beautiful Black Dolls to show out little girls and boys that they “ARE” beautiful. No matter the color of their skin or the texture of their hair. “Their Black IS BEAUTIFUL”!

                Now do not get me wrong, I have, and I will make dolls of other nationalities when asked, I do not discriminate, but my focus is on my little girls and boys of color because they need to see beautiful dolls of color that represent us.
